Theresa May

Profile

Theresa May is a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party from 2016 to 2019. A one-nation conservative, she previously held the position of Home Secretary from 2010 to 2016, becoming the longest-serving holder of that office in over 60 years. After representing Maidenhead as a Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2024, she was elevated to the House of Lords as Baroness May of Maidenhead. Her premiership was primarily defined by the complex negotiations surrounding the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union following the 2016 referendum.
