Thomas Rechsteiner is a Swiss politician who has served as a member of the National Council of Switzerland since 2019. Born in Appenzell in 1971, he began his political career as a school councilor before serving in the Grosser Rat, the legislative body of the Canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. From 2011 to 2018, he held the position of Säckelmeister, or Finance Director, in the cantonal government. A member of The Centre, formerly the Christian Democratic Party, he was elected to the national legislature in 2019 and subsequently re-elected in 2023. Within the National Council, he is a member of the Security Policy Committee and serves as the Vice President of the Delegation for Relations with the Parliament of Liechtenstein.
