Tim Melson

Tim Melson is an American politician and physician serving as a member of the Alabama Senate, representing the 1st district since 2014. A graduate of the University of North Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he previously practiced as an anesthesiologist and owned a medical clinical trials business. In the legislature, Melson has focused on healthcare policy, notably authoring Alabama's medical cannabis legislation and advocating for protections for in vitro fertilization. He is a conservative who supports Second Amendment rights and anti-abortion measures.
