Tom Ongena is a Belgian politician and lawyer who currently serves as a member of the Flemish Parliament for the Antwerp constituency. Born in Cologne, Germany, he moved to Belgium as a teenager and later earned a law degree from the University of Antwerp. Before his election to the Flemish Parliament in 2019, he worked as a researcher in international criminal law and served as a political advisor to various Flemish ministers. From 2023 to 2024, he held the position of chairman of the Open VLD party, leading the organization through a period of transition before stepping down following the 2024 federal elections.
