Tom Umberg

Tom Umberg is an American politician and retired U.S. Army Colonel currently serving in the California State Senate, representing the 34th district. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served in the California State Assembly and as Deputy Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy under the Clinton administration. A former federal prosecutor, Umberg is recognized for his legislative work on artificial intelligence regulation, election security, and the establishment of CARE Courts to address homelessness and mental health.
