Tomonori Yamashina is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Shinjo City in Yamagata Prefecture. Born in 1966, he graduated from the College of Bioresource Sciences at Nihon University. Before entering politics, he worked as an executive at a produce company. Yamashina served three terms as a member of the Yamagata Prefectural Assembly starting in 2011. In September 2023, he was elected mayor of Shinjo, campaigning on platforms that include strengthening regional medical care centered on the Prefectural Shinjo Hospital and promoting educational and industrial collaboration with the Tohoku University of Agriculture and Forestry.
