Hiroshi Ueno is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. Born in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, he graduated from the University of Tokyo and earned a Master of Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School. He began his career at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Throughout his political career, he has been affiliated with several parties, including the Your Party and the Japan Restoration Party, before joining the Liberal Democratic Party. He previously served as a member of the House of Councillors and as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare. Ueno is known for his conservative policy stances, including support for constitutional amendment, opposition to selective separate surnames for married couples, and support for the introduction of the high-professional system. He returned to the Diet following his election in the 2026 House of Representatives general election.
