Soichiro Ueta is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Muroto City in Kochi Prefecture. Born in 1956, he graduated from Tokyo University of Agriculture before beginning his political career as a member of the Muroto City Council in 1983. He later served five terms in the Kochi Prefectural Assembly. After working as the chairman of the Muroto City Tourism Association, he was elected mayor in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. In June 2026, he announced that he would not seek a third term due to ongoing medical treatment for cancer.
