A graduate of Seoul National University, she began her career as a lawyer specializing in corporate law before entering politics in 2012. Throughout her career, she has held various roles across the political spectrum, including leadership positions in the Democratic Party of Korea, the People's Party, and the Bareunmirae Party, and served as the leader of the Forward Party. She was re-elected to the National Assembly in 2024 and currently serves as a senior member of the Democratic Party's supreme council.
