Uwe Santjer

Uwe Santjer is a German politician and remedial teacher who has served as the Lord Mayor of Cuxhaven since November 2019. Before his election as mayor, he was a member of the Landtag of Lower Saxony from 2013 to 2019, where he represented the Cuxhaven constituency and served as deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. His political career has focused on early childhood education, maritime policy, and the expansion of offshore wind energy. Prior to his full-time political career, he worked as a remedial teacher and manager of childcare facilities.
