Venton Jones

Venton Jones is an American politician and public health advocate serving as the representative for the Texas House of Representatives' 100th district since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he is the first HIV-positive person to serve in the Texas Legislature. Before his election, Jones worked extensively in HIV prevention and public health advocacy, including roles with the National Black Gay Men's Advocacy Coalition. In office, he has focused on healthcare and civil rights, notably authoring legislation to repeal outdated state laws regarding homosexual conduct.
