Walid al-Samaani

Walid al-Samaani is a Saudi jurist and administrator who has served as the Minister of Justice of Saudi Arabia since 2015. Appointed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, he also holds the positions of President of the Supreme Judicial Council and Chairman of the Saudi Bar Association. Before his ministerial appointment, he served as a judge at the Saudi Board of Grievances and as a legal advisor to the Crown Prince. Throughout his tenure, he has spearheaded significant judicial reforms, including the digitization of court procedures, the establishment of specialized commercial and labor courts, and the expansion of women's roles within the legal sector. He holds a PhD in comparative law from the High Judicial Institute.
