Walter Cruickshank

Walter Cruickshank is an American government official who served as the Acting Secretary of the Interior from January 20, 2025, to February 1, 2025. Throughout his career, he held significant roles within the federal government, most notably as the deputy director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management from its inception in 2011 until his retirement in June 2025. He also served in various leadership capacities within the Minerals Management Service, including acting director roles. Cruickshank holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a Doctor of Philosophy in minerals management from Pennsylvania State University.
