Born in Sheldon, Vermont, he pursued a career in marine biology, earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maine and a Master of Science from California State Polytechnic University. Before entering the state legislature, he served for eight years as the commissioner of the Vermont Department of Wildlife under Governor Jim Douglas. In 2022, he was appointed by Governor Phil Scott to fill a vacancy in the House of Representatives, where he continues to serve today.
