Wolfgang Gerstl is an Austrian politician and a member of the National Council representing the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). Born in St. Pölten in 1961, he studied law at the University of Vienna before beginning his career in the police force and later serving in the Federal Ministry of Science and Research and the Ministry of Defence. Gerstl was active in local Viennese politics for many years, serving in the Vienna Landtag and Gemeinderat from 2001 to 2011. Since 2011, he has served as a member of the National Council, where he has focused on constitutional affairs. He was awarded the Grand Gold Decoration for Services to the Republic of Austria in 2017.
