Won Min-kyong

Won Min-kyong is a South Korean politician and human rights lawyer serving as the Minister of Gender Equality and Family. Born in Seoul in 1971, she graduated from Yonsei University and passed the 40th National Bar Examination, subsequently building an extensive career dedicated to women's rights and legal advocacy. She has served as chair of the Lawyers for a Democratic Society Women's Rights Committee, a non-standing member of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, and was appointed to lead the gender ministry in September 2025, becoming the inaugural minister following its name change to the Ministry of Women and Family.
