Wu Cheng-wen

Wu Cheng-wen is a Taiwanese electrical engineer, computer scientist, and academic serving as the Minister of the National Science and Technology Council since May 2024. A former star baseball player who represented Taiwan in the 1971 Little League World Series, he later pursued a distinguished academic career, earning his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Before joining the cabinet, he held leadership roles at the Industrial Technology Research Institute and served as president of the Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. As minister, he has focused on advancing Taiwan's space development, promoting artificial intelligence infrastructure, and launching the 'Chip Team Taiwan' initiative to bolster domestic technological self-reliance.
