Junzo Yamamoto is a Japanese politician serving as a member of the House of Councillors, currently holding the position of Policy Research Council Chairman for the Liberal Democratic Party in the House of Councillors. Born in Imabari, Ehime, he previously worked at Kawasaki Steel before entering politics, serving six terms in the Ehime Prefectural Assembly. Throughout his career, he has held significant government roles, including Minister of State for Disaster Management and Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission. Yamamoto is known for his conservative policy stances, supporting constitutional revision, the maintenance of the Japan-U.S. security alliance, and the continued use of nuclear power. He has been elected to the House of Councillors four times representing the Ehime constituency.
