Yasuo Fukuda is a Japanese politician who served as the 91st Prime Minister of Japan from 2007 to 2008. Before his premiership, he held several key government positions, including Chief Cabinet Secretary and Minister of State for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs. A graduate of Waseda University, he worked for Maruzen Oil for over 17 years before entering politics to follow in the footsteps of his father, former Prime Minister Takeo Fukuda. He was elected to the House of Representatives seven times and was known for his diplomatic experience and role as a key coordinator within the Liberal Democratic Party. He retired from politics in 2012.
