Yurii Zahorodnii is a Ukrainian politician and a People's Deputy of Ukraine of the 9th convocation. Born in 1959 in Hrebinky, Kyiv Oblast, he is a candidate of pedagogical sciences and a graduate of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Throughout his career, he served as the first deputy head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine from 2002 to 2005 and led the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united) starting in 2007. In 2024, he was excluded from the Opposition Platform — For Life party after becoming the only member of his faction to support legislation restricting religious institutions linked to the Russian state.
