Zooey Zephyr

Zooey Zephyr is an American politician and university administrator serving as a member of the Montana House of Representatives. Elected in 2022, she became the first openly transgender person to serve in the Montana Legislature. Zephyr gained national attention in 2023 for her vocal opposition to anti-LGBT legislation and her subsequent barring from the House floor. A graduate of the University of Washington and the University of Montana, she previously worked as a program manager at the University of Montana. Her political career is defined by her advocacy for transgender rights and civil liberties.
