Abdul Hadi Awang is a Malaysian politician and religious scholar who has served as the Member of Parliament for Marang since 2008, having previously held the seat from 1990 to 2004. As the long-serving president of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), he previously served as the 11th Menteri Besar of Terengganu from 1999 to 2004 and as the Federal Opposition Leader. Educated at the Islamic University of Madinah and Al-Azhar University, he is known for his advocacy of conservative Islamic policies and his active involvement in international Islamic movements.
