Akashi Uchikoshi is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Ibusuki in Kagoshima Prefecture. A graduate of Kyushu University and the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management, he previously served four terms as a member of the Kagoshima Prefectural Assembly and one term as a member of the House of Representatives. Throughout his career, he has focused on regional revitalization, disaster prevention, and the promotion of island development. He was first elected mayor in 2022 and secured a second term in 2026.
