Prior to her election to the Senate, she served in the California State Assembly representing the 79th district from 2021 to 2024 and was a member of the La Mesa City Council. A practicing OBGYN at Rady Children's Hospital, she holds a medical degree from the University of Rochester. She is the daughter of California Secretary of State Shirley Weber.
