Akimasa Suzuki is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Ota Ward in Tokyo. Born in 1958, he began his career as a public secretary to Shintaro Ishihara before entering local politics. He served three terms as an Ota Ward assembly member and six terms as a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly. In April 2023, he was elected as the Mayor of Ota Ward with the support of the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito. During his mayoral campaign, he addressed questions regarding his past attendance at events associated with the Unification Church, stating that he was unaware of the group's involvement at the time.
