Alan Winde

Alan Richard Winde is a South African politician and businessman who has served as the 8th Premier of the Western Cape since 2019. A member of the Democratic Alliance, he previously served as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament starting in 1999 and held various provincial ministerial portfolios, including Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, and Community Safety. Before entering politics, Winde was a small business owner in his hometown of Knysna. Throughout his career, he has focused on economic development, tourism, and provincial safety, notably advocating for regional autonomy and criticizing national government policies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
