Alessandro Basso

Alessandro Basso is an Italian politician and educator who has served as the Mayor of Pordenone since April 2025. A member of the Brothers of Italy party, he previously served as a regional councilor in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Before entering politics, Basso worked as a primary school teacher and school administrator. He holds a degree in humanities from the University of Udine with a focus on historical and artistic studies. Basso is a practicing Catholic and made national headlines as part of the first same-sex couple of mayors in Italy.
