Alex Greenwich is an Australian politician who has served as the Member for Sydney in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly since 2012. An independent, he is a prominent advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, having played a key leadership role in the successful campaign for marriage equality in Australia and the legalization of abortion and voluntary assisted dying in New South Wales. Born in New Zealand to a Georgian father and American mother, he moved to Sydney as a child and previously worked as a recruitment agency director. Greenwich is recognized for his legislative work on social reform and his public stance against political harassment, including a successful defamation case against former politician Mark Latham.
