Gavin Morris is an Australian politician and former television personality who has served as the Lord Mayor of Newcastle since April 2026. Raised in Woodberry, he built a prominent career in media, working as a radio presenter for stations including Triple M and New FM, and later as a weather presenter and news reader for NBN Television and the Nine Network's Today Show. Following the resignation of his predecessor, Ross Kerridge, Morris successfully ran as an independent candidate in the 2026 by-election, securing a decisive victory with over 51 percent of the primary vote. He currently resides in Merewether with his family.
