Prior to his appointment as Prime Minister, he held several high-level government roles, including Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee from 2019 to 2025 and First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus from 2018 to 2019. Throughout his career, he has served in various administrative and economic capacities within the Belarusian government, including as an aide to the President and head of the Council of Ministers office. Turchin has been subject to international sanctions by the European Union and the United Kingdom since 2020 and 2021, respectively.
