Algirdas Sysas

Algirdas Sysas is a Lithuanian politician and trade unionist who has served as a long-standing Member of the Seimas since 1996. A prominent figure in the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, he has held various leadership roles, including Deputy Speaker of the Seimas and Deputy Chair of his party. Before entering national politics, he was a key leader in the independent Lithuanian trade union movement. Sysas is a vocal advocate for social dialogue, progressive taxation, and social justice, consistently emphasizing the need for robust social insurance systems to address inequality.
