Amir Ohana is an Israeli politician and lawyer who has served as the Speaker of the Knesset since 2022. A member of the Likud party, he previously held cabinet positions as Minister of Justice and Minister of Public Security. Ohana is notable for being the first openly gay person to serve as a government minister and the first openly gay Speaker of the Knesset in Israeli history. Before his political career, he served in the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet, and practiced criminal law for a decade. Politically, he is a Netanyahu loyalist who has advocated for gun rights and has occasionally defied his party's line on LGBTQ+ rights legislation.
