He is the son of the veteran Congress leader Vilasrao Deshmukh and has served as a three-term Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly representing the Latur City constituency since 2009. Throughout his career, he has held various positions, including serving as a cabinet minister in the Government of Maharashtra from 2019 to 2022 and acting as the National Secretary of the All India Congress Committee.
