Andrew Barr is an Australian politician serving as the 7th Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory since 2014. A member of the ACT Legislative Assembly since 2006, he previously served as the territory's Treasurer. Barr is the longest-serving Chief Minister in the history of the ACT and is recognized as the first openly gay head of an Australian state or territory government. His political career has focused on economic diversification, progressive social reforms, LGBTI rights, and ambitious climate change policies, including a commitment to net-zero emissions and the transition to renewable energy.
