Andrew Gounardes is an American politician and lawyer serving as a member of the New York State Senate, representing the 26th district in Brooklyn. A fourth-generation Greek-American, he previously worked as a constituent aide to Councilman Vincent J. Gentile and as counsel to Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams. Gounardes gained prominence for his community advocacy, including co-founding the nonprofit Bay Ridge Cares following Hurricane Sandy. Since his election to the Senate in 2018, he has focused on legislative priorities including civil service and pension reform.
