Andrew Muir is a Northern Irish politician who has served as the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs since February 2024. A member of the Alliance Party, he has represented the North Down constituency as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) since 2019. Previously, Muir served as a local councillor and became the first openly gay mayor in Northern Ireland during his tenure on the North Down Borough Council from 2013 to 2014. As a minister, he has prioritized animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and addressing the ecological crisis at Lough Neagh.
