Sioned Ann Williams is a Welsh politician serving as the Deputy First Minister of Wales and Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice and Equality since 2026. A member of Plaid Cymru, she was elected as the Member of the Senedd for Brycheiniog Tawe Nedd in 2026, having previously represented the South Wales West region since 2021. A self-described democratic socialist, Williams has focused her political career on social justice, inequality, and community advocacy. Before entering national politics, she worked as a journalist for BBC News Wales and held roles in academia at Swansea University. She is known for her successful campaign to reopen the inquiry into the Gleision Colliery mining accident and her advocacy for human rights and consumer protections.
