Angéla Németh

Angéla Németh was a Hungarian track and field athlete who specialized in the javelin throw. She achieved international prominence by winning the gold medal in the javelin at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. Following her Olympic success, she was named the Hungarian Sportswoman of the Year in both 1968 and 1969, a period during which she also secured the European title. Known as Angéla Ránky after her marriage, she remained a celebrated figure in Hungarian sports history until her passing in 2014.
