Angelique Ashby

Angelique Ashby is an American politician serving as a member of the California State Senate representing the 8th district since 2022. She currently serves as the Majority Leader of the California Senate. Prior to her legislative career, she served for 12 years on the Sacramento City Council, where she held the position of vice mayor multiple times. Her policy focus includes homelessness, school funding, literacy, economic development, and climate change. Ashby holds a Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law.
