Anne Carney is an American politician and attorney currently serving as a member of the Maine Senate, representing District 29. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she earned a B.A. from Haverford College, a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law. Before entering politics, she practiced employment, civil rights, and municipal law for 16 years and served as a pro bono attorney for Pine Tree Legal Assistance. Inspired to run for office following the 2016 presidential election, she served in the Maine House of Representatives before her election to the Senate in 2020, where she chairs the Judiciary Committee.
