David Toland

David Toland is an American politician and businessman currently serving as the 52nd Lieutenant Governor of Kansas and the Kansas Secretary of Commerce. A seventh-generation Kansas native, he was raised in Iola and holds degrees from the University of Kansas. Before his appointment to state office by Governor Laura Kelly in 2019, Toland worked in economic development and served as the President and CEO of a community health-improvement organization. As Secretary of Commerce, he has been credited with overseeing record-breaking capital investment in the state and leading initiatives to revitalize the Kansas Main Street Program.
