Jay Collins is an American politician and retired U.S. Army Special Forces first sergeant who has served as the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Florida since August 2025. Before his appointment, he served in the Florida Senate from 2022 to 2025, where he was a prominent ally of Governor Ron DeSantis and sponsored legislation regarding firearm permitless carry and animal welfare. A decorated veteran who served over 20 years in the military, Collins has also been active in state policy debates regarding abortion restrictions and government administrative regulations. He is currently a candidate for Governor of Florida in the 2026 election.
