Annelies Pleyte

Annelies Pleyte is a Dutch politician and administrator serving as the Mayor of Veendam since September 2024. A member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), she previously held significant roles in the Dutch civil service, including serving as a political assistant to Prime Minister Mark Rutte and as Director of Sport at the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. Pleyte holds a degree in Constitutional Law from Leiden University and has extensive experience in public administration and regional coordination.
