Daan Prevoo

Daan Prevoo is a Dutch politician and administrator who has served as the Mayor of Valkenburg aan de Geul since April 2021. Born in Munstergeleen, he previously worked in the welfare and culture sectors before entering politics. He served as a member of the Provincial Council of Limburg from 2007 to 2015 and as a provincial executive (gedeputeerde) from 2015 to 2018. Originally a member of the Socialist Party (SP), he became an independent politician in 2018 following a conflict with the party leadership. During his tenure as mayor, he gained national attention for his leadership during the severe flooding of the Geul river in 2021.
