Ardalan Shekarabi is a Swedish Social Democratic politician who currently serves as a Member of the Riksdag. Born in Manchester and raised in Iran, he arrived in Sweden as a political refugee in 1989. Shekarabi previously held several high-profile cabinet positions, serving as the Minister for Social Security from 2019 to 2022, Minister for Public Administration from 2014 to 2019, and Minister for Consumer Affairs in 2019. Earlier in his career, he chaired the Swedish Social Democratic Youth League (SSU) from 2003 to 2005. He holds a Master of Laws degree from Uppsala University.
