Ashlei Spivey

Ashlei Spivey is an American politician serving as a member of the Nebraska Legislature, representing the 13th district which encompasses North Omaha and parts of Douglas County. Born on August 15, 1986, in Omaha, she is a lifelong resident of the area she represents. Before her election, Spivey founded the nonprofit organization I Be Black Girl, which focuses on maternal and child health. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications and marketing from Jackson State University and pursued graduate studies in urban social planning at the University of Texas, Arlington. Spivey is noted for being the first Black woman elected to the Nebraska Legislature since 2017 and currently serves on committees including Appropriations and State-Tribal Relations.
