Ataru Nakamura is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Gotsu City in Shimane Prefecture. Born in 1978 in Gotsu, he graduated from Tohoku Fukushi University. Before entering politics, he worked as a staff member at a nursing care facility. He later served for 18 years as a private and public secretary to House of Representatives member Wataru Takeshita, and subsequently worked for Representative Yasuhiro Takami. Nakamura was first elected mayor in 2022 and was re-elected unopposed in 2026, focusing his administration on addressing population decline.
