Tatsuo Ikeda is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Hokuto in Hokkaido. Born in 1960 in the former Kamiiso Town, he began his career in the private sector before entering local politics. He served as a member of the Kamiiso Town Council for two terms and subsequently as a member of the Hokuto City Council for four terms, where he also held the position of City Council Chair. Following the death of the incumbent mayor, Ikeda was first elected as Mayor of Hokuto in 2018 and has since secured re-election, including a third term in 2026. During his tenure, he has focused on municipal administration, including implementing fiscal measures such as salary reductions for city officials to fund COVID-19 countermeasures.
