Athena Michailidou is a Cypriot educator and politician who has served as the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth since 2023. Born in Kyrenia, she holds a PhD in educational studies from the University of London and has extensive experience in pedagogy and educational research. Before her appointment to the cabinet by President Nikos Christodoulides, she held various leadership roles, including director of the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute and acting permanent secretary to the Deputy Minister of Culture. As minister, she has focused on the technological transformation of education, the integration of artificial intelligence, and the implementation of national strategies to prevent violence in schools.
