Atsushi Kotake is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Toba City in Mie Prefecture. Born in Momotori-cho on Toshi Island, he graduated from the Faculty of Education at Mie University. Before entering politics, he had a long career in education, serving as a teacher in local elementary and junior high schools, as well as the principal of Toba Higashi Junior High School and the Toba City Superintendent of Education. He was elected mayor in April 2025 after running as an independent candidate, defeating both the incumbent and another challenger. His primary political platform focuses on the redevelopment of the area surrounding Toba Station.
